Marking the entrance to the old Sabatier pit tile, the city is a small suburban city built in 1914 by the Cie d'Anzin. The houses were reserved for the supervisory staff of the pit: head of the pit, head captains, supervisors. The Sabatier city is structured by a single straight path. Each comprising two dwellings, the dwellings are set back from the street. The architecture is meticulous: bays surmounted by arches with sand-lime brick keystones, false bays, sand-lime brick friezes. The entrance to the city is marked on either side by two dwellings of the same architectural style but taller and larger.
