For the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days, the Arenberg Mining Site - La Porte du Hainaut will open its doors on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th, 2026. Numerous free activities and tours will be offered throughout the weekend, focusing on the themes of Heritage of Photography and Heritage in Peril: Reviving, Resisting, Reimagining. The program includes guided tours, self-guided tours, audio guides, the photo exhibition Men of the North by photographer Louise Skira, tours of the film studios, screenings of documentary films, a virtual reality experience, a photo and selfie rally, immersive walks with Citywhispers, guided tours by the association of former miners, and participatory installations with the Sound Machines of the Métalu à Chahuter company. Several tours are available by reservation, including Memories of Little Galibot, The Mining Town: A Miners' Album, and From Pickaxe to Pixel, as well as tours of the film studios and guided tours with the association of former miners.
