Gender and Territory: Mining Memories and Contemporary Perspectives. The Maison Louise de Bettignies invites you to a day of study and conferences dedicated to the theme of Gender and Territory, on June 13th, starting at 9:00 AM. This day offers a fresh perspective on the history of the mining region, long recounted from a predominantly male viewpoint. Through conferences, discussions, and interdisciplinary reflections, it will highlight the role of women—workers, domestic servants, or those involved in community life—in the development and evolution of the region. By combining research, cultural mediation, and the arts, speakers will explore the representations of women and their impact on the territory, encompassing constraints, commitments, and resistance. Open to all, this day is part of a civic initiative aimed at enriching the local narrative and recognizing the contributions of working-class women to the history of the mining basin. Free admission. Open access throughout the day.
