On June 28, 2026, the Mining Basin celebrates its inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A unique Heritage Day event is being organized for the occasion by the Arenberg Mining Site - La Porte du Hainaut and the La Porte du Hainaut Tourist Office. This convivial, festive, and gourmet event will feature a guided tour, Arenberg Through the 5 Senses, led by the Tourist Office, an immersive experience and aerial tour of the mine using a VR headset, and an interactive exhibition, A Mine of Women. The event will conclude with a buffet lunch. Description: Arenberg Through the 5 Senses Two guided tours for a maximum of 25 people each, from 10:00 to 11:00 and from 11:00 to 12:00. Immerse yourself in the history of this iconic site with a sensory tour focused on the five senses. Accompanied by your guide, explore the site and its spaces, such as the Hanging Room or the Lamp Room. As you wander, animations and surprises will punctuate your journey, transporting you to the time when mining activity dictated life at the heart of the Arenberg pit. An immersive and original experience to rediscover mining heritage from a new perspective.
