He settles with his father in an old manor located on a huge estate where he meets a gray heron who little by little becomes his guide and helps him through his discoveries and questions to understand the world around him and to unravel the mysteries of life. The twelfth film by the Japanese master of animation is a tribute to The King and the Bird by Paul Grimault, a major source of inspiration for Miyazaki. The Boy and the Heron is a masterpiece of flamboyant beauty where the 82-year-old filmmaker combines his relationship with nature, mourning and childhood as he knows how to do so well. Bring warm, covering clothing, blankets and a flashlight. Dogs, even on a leash, are not allowed during the screening.
