Bi Hu Suo About emerging Chinese photography CRP/Centre régional de la photographie Hauts-de-France in Douchy-les-Mines, which is devoting a collective exhibition to four emerging Chinese artists, the result of a curatorial dialogue between Ruohao Hu, young Chinese commissioner and Audrey Hoareau, director of the CRP/. In Mandarin, Bi Hu Suo means “shelter”. It is also the title of this exhibition that determines young Chinese photography as a territory of exploration. Prolific, turbulent, the new photographic scene has developed disproportionately in recent years in the Middle Kingdom and beyond. What subjects animate this generation of artists who are all confronted or even stimulated by the weight of power and the history of such a complex nation? With the internationalization of Chinese students, particularly in the field of the arts, aspirations tend more and more towards unbridled artistic expression, including on social themes. Through four selected works, the exhibition highlights the ability of these artists to adapt their creative process and to develop roundabout, indirect approaches. Sino-American relations, evocation of the cultural revolution, security themes or even gender issues, Zhang Zhidong, Zheng Andong, Ye Wuji and Wang Yingying have in common to tackle sensitive, current but delicate subjects. RV eXploreXpo (teachers & group leaders) ► Wednesday May 11, 3-5 p.m. Museum Night (all public) ► Saturday May 14, 2-9 p.m. Afterschool (6-12 years old) ► Thursday May 19, 5-6 p.m. ZOOM weekend ( 15 years and over) ► Sunday May 22, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. The CRP/ as an art center turned to the world and committed to the representation of all photographic writings and to freedom of expression gives visibility to these works of high quality and therefore a state of the emerging Chinese scene. © Zhang Zhidong
